For the past few days I've been editing films using Roxio's DVD creater. It's a nice tool, but it's become a problem child for me. I need to try something else. Maybe the Windows Movie Maker. Wish me luck.I have two nephews named Kyle Kaipat. Both got injured in sports. One tore a muscle when his shoulder got dislocated during a cage match. The other broke his leg while trying to slide into base. Kyle, my godson, left to the the states to be with his dad. The other Kyle who still lives in Saipan is the one with the broken leg. He is also the bassman for Olomwaay (band). I had to cancel a gig due to the injury. Unless I know how to operate a keyboard, losing a bassman wouldn't be that much of a problem. The photo below shows Kyle and his daughter Mardina. Kyle needs to go off island to receive treatment.
Both bones on Kyle's right leg (just above the ankle) broke during a slide into base. The accident occurred when a baseman landed on Kyle's leg after catching a high ball. Kyle got injured during the first inning, so the morale was not good. His team (don't know the name) managed to bring home the trophy for second place. I told Kyle to stick to music till he's sure that he can go back to baseball.
To kill time on a Sunday night, I went fishing with my brothers Bud & Cris. Their wives, Maggie and Mary. Cris' daughter, Tatiana and my sister, Vio. The moon was up and bright so it was a good start. Cliff fishing can be fun. Little adventure there hiking from where the vehicles were parked at out to the cliff line. You have to hold the flash light in one hand and other accessories in the other hand while you play a game of balance. There is no trail, so you'll have to find a safe route over some razor sharp lava rocks. I found it a bit harder than I thought. I used to go cliff fishing with Cris during my high school days. I thought that it was easy back then. The only thing that was in the way was my fear of height. I would crawl whenever we'd get close to the edge. Tonight was my first time back and it seemed ages. Legs were shaking and I almost lost balance. Managed to find a good spot where my fishing adventure began.
I used Bud's rod and reel. Of course I had help in setting up the sinker and bate on the fish hook. A few seconds after my first cast, the fish took the bate and went under a rock. Cris said, "Bring it in quick. That one has gone under a rock." I heard my relatives giggling in the background. "Tee-hee...hahaha!" Stupid dorks!
I broke the line reeled the whole thing back in. The sinker and the fish hook were gone. I repeated this ordeal several times till I gave up. Not because I wanted to, but because we found out that the fishing line I had was totally out of commission. It was probably too worn out that it would not withstand the pressure even though I was aiming for the little ones. Anyway, brother Cris and I took turns on his rod. It was ok, except that the fish still went under the rocks. Darn fish was making me look bad. Good thing it was dark, so no one could see my face turn red.
I take that this experience happens all the time. I try not to get bored so I tried to get a conversation going. Unfortunately, I ended up doing most of the talking because Cris is not the type that likes to tell stories when he is working on something. Lania! Where's the bond? Heheh! I guess not in Saipan. OK, so I was talking to myself most of the time, so what? No one complained. Helped me cope with the rock poking my toe every now and then. We went on for a few more hours till we got tired of losing stuff. LOL. What a crazy experience.
Better luck next time. Oh, we did managed to catch five. Better than nothing. I like going fishing at night. Cris suggested we try going at day time. Lord help me.
