My Video Card Hurt Me

The computer is up and running. It crashed about a week ago, so I was home without a PC for days. I thought that my hard drive had crashed, but after talking to friends, I was assured that problem may lie with the video card.

When I brought the CPU to Calvatron in Garapan - I was relieved to hear that the video card was the culprit. However, my heart skipped a beat when the technician told me that the monitor may have caused the crash. What the heck?! I tell you, I was not in a sweet mood. I discussed it with Cinta who was not convinced that the monitor was a problem. She wanted us to make sure that the monitor at home was completely inoperable. We held off on purchasing a replacement monitor and also saved a lot of money. After taking care of some minor glitches, life was back to normal.

A big Olomwaay! to my buddies: Lex (Just Relax), Frank (My Tenda) and Mel Mendiola (co-worker) for the trouble-shooting tips. Thanks for allowing me to bug you guys. ; )

Water Color On Beach Road, Saipan!

These photos were taken during a drive down on Beach Road. Sun has not set yet, but a huge cloud covering the entire southern part of Saipan made it seem like it has disappeared over the horizon. It got dark immediately after passing through Garapan. When we got to Susupe, that's when it started raining. My passenger took photos shared below:

Zoom! Zoom-zoom! Motorists had their head lights on. Street lights lit up in Susupe. Drip...drip....SHHHHHH! Rain dropped like a bucket full of water. Ahhh...sweet! Did I mention that I also love driving in the rain? ; )

Managed to take the final shot below. It looked like water color.

Scare Tactic on CNMI's Hill

I just got done doing a virus scan on my computer this morning when I started hearing someone shouting down the hall way, "Get out! Get out now!" In a few seconds, a co-worker opened the door to my office and informed me that we had just received a bomb threat. The other Legislative Assistants were afk (away from computer), so I shut down my computer then headed out the door.

In minutes, personnel had completely exited the legislative building. After the police/bomb squad showed up, we were asked to move further away from the premises. A gray-haired man kept waving at everyone to move further back till we almost ended up in the jungle. No chairs, so we all stood and waited.

I overheard someone complaining that it was a waste of government resource having all the law enforcement personnel and equipment rolled out just because someone wanted some special attention. Don't they know that they will get caught and would eventually end up in jail? Dang it! It was hot outdoors. Everyone waited patiently as the search went on. Good thing it didn't rain hard. After we received an all clear, everyone found themselves back at their desks. Some of my co-workers did not get lunch. Probably so much crap to even think about food.

Anyway...life moves on. I got home, browsed the net and came across something unique. I would like to ask you to check it out. ; ) Peace!

Rainin' in Saipan

It was a hot morning today. Towards the evening, it got cloudy and cloudy till rain dropped like water fall. Back in the mid 70's (when Saipan was less populated), kids in the neighborhood would come out and run butt-naked in the rain. Too bad I don't recall if I were one of those little dare-devils. Tee-hee!!

The older kids would gather materials from a nearby abandoned house to use as surf boards. It was fun and I miss those days. Today at 5 p.m. (before it rained), I went indoor. Came out an hour later then took the photos below:

Mmm....my kind of weather. : )

TGIF, SAIPAN!!!

School starts today. Kids didn't want to wake up this morning, so I had to put my drill seargent's voice to action:

Vio: Lei?, Lei? (short for Leilugh - her daughter/my god-daughter)
Leilugh: hmm?
- above repeats for a few times...to me it was like forever!

Me: LEI?! LEI?!
Leilugh: AAAA? (that's "what?" in Carolinian/Refaluwasch)
Me: SCHUUM (that's "get up" in Carolinian/Refaluwasch)

As soon as the other kids hear this, they all mobilized and got ready. However, there's always that glitch -- Josiah's problem this morning:

Josiah: Mom, I forgot my shoes in Dan-Dan (that's 15 minutes to and from Koblerville)...
Frances: LANIA DEI, JOSIAH! Why you decide just now to say you left your shoes in Dan-Dan?
Me: Shhh! Siah? Wear your zoris. DE END.

Happy Friday, everyone. : ))
